Acts 2:29-41 ....37
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and
the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38Peter replied, "Repent and be
baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the
Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for
you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom
the Lord our God will call."

“Cut to the
Heart!” The words of St. Peter in the Book of
Acts describe the posture of the crowd when they realized that
Jesus, whom they had crucified, was both Lord and Christ. The
people were reduced to such a state that they could only ask,
“What shall we do?” They were completely unable to consider
what their next step should be. They had crucified the
Messiah. Peter told them to “repent and be baptized….for the
forgiveness of their sins.” And he went on to tell them that
the promise of forgiveness was not only for them, but also “for
all whom the Lord our God will call.”
As Christian people, we too are “Cut to the Heart” as we confess
our sins before God and seek His forgiveness. But what sounds
so much like the Law is overwhelmed by what Jesus Christ did for
us on the cross. That is the message that makes your ministry
so vitally important. It is the Gospel message of what Jesus
Christ has done for all people that we have to share with a
world that is in desperate need of knowing its savior.
This conference is dedicated to nurturing you as a committed
follower of Christ, one who is in the Lutheran church and school
ministry, one who impacts children and their families. Our
prayer is that you will be blessed by your experiences during
the conference, that you might be better equipped to serve
joyfully and with an enthusiastic spirit. May the love of
Christ fill your hearts!
